SAFER STREETS - "Studies conclude casinos increase crime, poverty and hurt business in the surrounding
area. The Providence Place Mall, the Dunkin' Donuts Center, and the restaurants in Providence may be seriously
hurt by the casino bill. In addition to this the state legislature accepted a license fee of only 100 million dollars for
the casino in the past when other states have received up to 500 million for the same license. This potential loss
of 400 million dollars in revenue could and may into the future, go a long way to help ease the property tax burden
in Providence as well as the affordable housing crisis." Where was David Cicilline or Whitehouse? Why have they
been recently silent on "The Patriot Act" and other laws that have stolen Americans civil rights? There was a 22%
increase in murders in the city of Providence in 2005, did Cicilline and this current administration fail you?
EDUCATION REFORM - "The state has threatened to take over Hope High and Hope's roof still leaks. The
state’s involvement into Hope has been beneficial; however, the city, and more specifically David Cicilline after
over 3 years in office, has failed to offer basic infrastructure needs to Hope High School. Over 200 teachers have
been laid off and cuts such as the music program and Advanced Placement program have been felt by Classical
High school with little regard to the teachers union, students or parents. The Providence school budget has been
funded only to the bare minimum required by state law. This flat funding takes no consideration of the 300
additional students that have joined the Providence school system. People move to a city for it's schools, and
many of them are failing in Providence. Central High School still has lost its accreditation. How will this affect
property values in the future? The staff of our libraries throughout Providence has also been cut, as well as library
hours, my opponents remain silent. "No Child Left Behind" has gone to the way side and many families feel Mr.
Whitehouse should be left behind."
LOWER TAXES - "Property taxes with re- assessments have gone up over 300% in some cases in Providence
under the leadership of Cicilline. My opponents are elected politicians and look at how they have failed. A political
office is not a lifetime position. It's time for a change and it's a time for hope." In addition Young states, " We
clearly must address the national debt that has doubled and this congress, from 4 trillion to 8.2 trillion dollars in
six years. We pay 2 billion dollars per day just in interest on this debt to private banks cutting federal funding to
the states as well as numerous federal programs ranging from the push toward increased property taxation, lack
of funding to health care programs to education funding yet Whitehouse is silent on this issue. Why? They seem
to fear saying lets print our own currency through the U.S. Treasury to pay down our national debt. John F.
Kennedy had suggested this before he was assassinated."
AFFORDABLE HOUSING - "Voters ask me why have our rents gone up so much? There is less affordable
housing in Providence because the property tax increases have, in part, been passed onto tenants/renters. Also,
the private colleges still pay no property taxes. Conservative estimates say by taxing the colleges they could
contribute 125 Million to the Providence city budget, enough to reinstate many of the programs that have been cut.
Finally, private colleges can raise their tenants' rents without regard to the impact it has on affordable housing for
everyone. These colleges need control and a leader who is not afraid to challenge the tax exempt status they
have had for way to long."
NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION - Should our police department be under staffed? Should our Fire
Fighters, who risk life and limb to protect us, still not have a signed contract well over 3 years since Cicilline was
put into office? "Voters have said why do we have so little control over Brown University and Miriam Hospital?
Should Brown University security guards be allowed to carry guns? There is no outcry from David Cicilline on this
important civil rights issue. Also, Brown University wants to build a Life Sciences Building that produces
hazardous material without the consent of surrounding residents. I believe surrounding residents should be
heard, yet their voice is not heard and my opponents again choose not to speak out. Cicilline and his
administration tore down a building constructed in 1791 to build high priced condos. This issue is not challenged
by anyone yet the impact on the Historical life of Providence is on the line as well as the impact these condos will
have on rents landlords have collected in the past on the East side to pay their inflated property taxes. Will
landlords find it more difficult to rent their property as the economy heads toward a predicted downturn as interest
rates rise. Brown University as well as other private colleges should start to pay property taxes on at least their
non educational property to ease the tax burden and affordable housing crisis in Providence. A deceptive 20-year
deal in Providence has been struck with private colleges and anchoring of the language of the deal in state law
has been rapidly passed through the legislature with no opposition from Cicilline.
In addition to this, Brown University, as well as other private colleges, file no quarterly financial reports with
Rhode Island's corporations division. Other states such as Massachusetts require this. Another private non profit
corporation, Miriam Hospital, has plans to expand into the residential community surrounding the hospital -
against the wishes of it's neighbors and removing property from the tax role - yet you hear no debate on this issue
from my opponents."
ELECTION REFORM - "I have never taken one penny from anyone to run for political office. I do this to show
voters that this is their democracy, that they too can run for office. At least I am one candidate who will not be
influenced by campaign contributions, since I don't take any campaign contributions.
We have serious issues in Rhode Island when it comes to our election process. One of these, as stated by my
running mate Keven McKenna in the 2002 Providence Mayoral election, is to remove the 117 year old voters who
live in the Old Burial ground from the Providence voting list. Again, there is no voice representing the people on
this issue." Only a small portion have been removed from the 35,000 found in 2002. In the last general election
voters were told 3 days before the election to vote in parts of the city where their candidates names would not
even appear on the ballot, yet Cicilline did not grant another election and Whitehouse found no need to even
speak on the issue for this violation of state election law. "Change and hope are needed in our state, my hope is
that you choose Christopher Young in September 2010."
Campaign for Justice

"I Christopher Young take the following positions.
I oppose our government’s new power to search our homes
without a warrant.
I do not take campaign contributions but Jack Reed has taken
over 4 million dollars in campaign contributions in this election
cycle alone.
I would not have repealed key banking regulations, as Jack
Reed did, the repeal of which has ultimately lead to the collapse
in the housing market. Jack Reed took almost 1 million dollars
from the big banks between 1995 and 2000 while at the same
same time voting to deregulate those same banks, profiting his
other campaign contributors Bear Stearns and JP Morgan
Chase.
I oppose the North American Union, and globalization.
I oppose Jack Reed’s membership in the Council on Foreign
Relations which is a globalist organization that supports ending
OUR nation state sovereignty. I oppose the C.F.R’s plan to
end America ’s national sovereignty as well as ending the
United States constitution and Bill of Rights.
I oppose the death's of over 1.2 MILLION people in this war.
I oppose a draft.
I oppose going to war with Iran, OR ANY NEW COUNTRIES
SINCE THIS WAS POSTED HERE..
I support immediate withdrawal from Iraq.
I support funding for education and debt relief and the re
instituting a federal statute of limitations on debt.
I support re instituting bankruptcy protections taken away, under
Jack Reed's administration, for home owners and college
students with student loan debt.
I support a living wage.
I support a strong dollar and lowering inflation of food prices.
I support federal rate control over the price of gasoline.
I support Election Reform.
I support ending the Federal Reserve and removing the national
debt of 58 trillion dollars.
I support Bush’s impeachment.
I will Stop High Gas and Utility Prices.
I will Stop High Property Taxes/Rents and Crime.
I will return federal funding to the states to Improve Education
and Employment.
I, with my whole mind, body, heart and soul, will defend The
United States Constitution and Bill of Rights and oppose the
Patriot Act, H.R. 1955 and detention camps.
These issues require a change in outlook, a change in tactics,
and a change in missions-by the government, by the people, by
every businessman or labor leader, and by every newspaper
and television news station.”
Please understand, many of the problems our state and country are facing can be directly linked to Jack Reed's Poor leadership over the past 20 years since he has been our congressional delegate. Please take a role in this campaign by telling a friend, for your good and the good of your nation.
