Jack Reed is NOT Pro-Life
|
Because Jack Reed continues to call himself a Catholic, most Rhode Islanders mistakenly assume that he is Pro-Life. This
is not so. In fact, Jack Reed has a 0% rating by both the Christian Coalition and the National Right to Life Committee,
indicating the strongest anti-life and anti-family voting record possible. Jack Reed is also rated 100% by NARAL Pro-Choice
America, and is one of just 18 senators in the country who are endorsed by the Planned Parenthood Federal PAC for 2008.
I, Christopher F. Young, am Jack Reed's only opponent in the democratic primary on Tuesday, September 9th.
I am Catholic and 100% Pro-Life.
On the issue of abortion, I agree with Mother Theresa, who said: "The right to life does not depend, and must not be declared
to be contingent, on the pleasure of anyone else, not even a parent or a sovereign."
I am not afraid to let Rhode Islanders know that I am Pro-Life, and I have many times prayed the rosary on Saturday mornings
along with Bishop Roque, Catholics for Life, and others in front of the abortion clinic (Women's Medical Center of RI) on Broad
Street in Cranston .
Abortion has been the greatest holocaust against humanity and those who support abortion will face the judgment of God
himself. I believe that if Rhode Islanders only knew that Jack Reed is NOT Pro-Life, they would not vote for him. The Pope has
made it clear that, as a Catholic, you cannot accept the Eucharist if you support abortion. The Catholic Church also states that
you should not support candidates that support abortion.
Here are some of the highlights of Jack Reed's anti-life voting record over the past 10 years alone.
Jack Reed:
- Voted NO on the Prohibit Partial Birth Abortion Bill (10/21/03.)
- Voted NO on Senate Amendment 3330 that would have barred grants
for groups that perform abortions (10/18/07.)
- Voted NO to Senate Amendment 2707. This amendment prohibits
U.S. assistance for groups that support coercive abortion (9/06/07.)
- Voted NO on prohibiting minors from crossing state lines for
abortions (3/13/08.)
- Voted NO on notifying parents of minors who get out of state
abortions (7/25/06.)
- Voted YES on the Roe v. Wade Amendment (S 1692). This
amendment indicated Congress' support of the Supreme Court's
decision to legalize abortion in the Roe v. Wade case of 1973, and
stated that it was an appropriate right that should not be overturned.
(10/21/99)
- Voted NO on the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 1999 (S 1692) This
bill prohibits any individual from knowingly performing the procedure
known as intact dilation and extraction, in which a fetus is partially
delivered before it is aborted, unless the life of the woman is
endangered by a physical disorder, illness, or injury. (10/21/99.)
